Five Aggies Selected in the 2008 NFL Draft
Five Texas A&M football players were selected in the 2008 NFL Draft last weekend. It was the most Aggies selected in any single NFL Draft since 2003 when six A&M players heard their names called.
Achieving their dreams of getting drafted to the NFL were tight end Martellus Bennett, offensive center Cody Wallace, defensive tackle Red Bryant, defensive end Chris Harrington and offensive tackle Corey Clark.
Bennett, from Alief, Texas, was the Aggies’ lone first day selection, getting picked in the second round and No. 61 overall by the five-time Super Bowl Champion Dallas Cowboys.
Wallace, from Cuero, Texas, was the first Aggie selected on Sunday, getting his call from the San Francisco 49ers in the fourth round (107th overall). Also being selected in the fourth round was Bryant, who was taken 121st overall by the Seattle Seahawks. Bryant, from Jasper, Texas, joined Jacob Green, Sam Adams and Rocky Bernard as A&M defensive linemen chosen by the Seahawks over the years.
Harrington, from Houston, was taken in the sixth round and 185th overall by the Arizona Cardinals, and Clark, from Spring Branch, Texas, was picked in the seventh round by San Diego.
